I Believe Patient Utilization Will be Through the Roof – Donald Megison, MD

I think the initial thing that intrigued me was the action of the flywheel allowing the affected limb to be passively exercised by using the good limb. It immediately struck me that a patient with a stroke is in this same exact situation! The fact that an affected leg or arm could be rehabilitated using the unaffected limb while in a home setting was captivating. I can certainly see future applications of the ROMTech Technology in stroke rehab centers to produce the same quick results that we are currently hearing about with knee and hip surgeries. The other point that captured my attention was the real-time feedback providers and PT personnel receive from the PortableConnect. This data allows care providers to make rapid adjustments to the patient’s therapy to further speed recovery. Thirdly, the small footprint of the machine makes it incredibly user friendly-- as a result, I believe patient utilization will be through the roof. I think we are already seeing that with high levels of compliance among knee and hip patients.
